As someone who’s been closely related to software for years, I will quote Steve Jobs right at the beginning. This is also the entire gist of what I will discuss in the coming lines.

“Design is not just what it looks and feels like. Design is how it works.” — Steve Jobs

Have you ever wondered that millions of applications appear each year but only some become a part and parcel of our everyday lives?

Some become an everyday name while some vanish like they never existed.

Today, I will take upon the apps that vanished like thin air, and mainly focus on the ‘why’ of it. We will talk about the two most crucial factors that determine the success of mobile applications. And if not given due attention, what harm can these two factors cause.

Raising the curtain now, the two factors are none other than the UI (User Interface) and the UX (User Experience) of a mobile application.

I’ve come across people using these two terms interchangeably. Nothing causes more rage within me than this, though.

My time as a CTO at Virtual Reality Creators has led me to really think through things and this blog is just a reflection of it. I will share insights from UI/UX design and how it can influence the success of mobile applications.

So, without any further due, let’s dive right into the details of UI/UX.

UI/UX?

UI (User Interface) is what the user sees on your mobile application. The main idea behind UI is to make the presentation appealing so the users are hooked to it.

In UI Design, the developers anticipate what the users might want to do on a page, thus offering the easiest access and understandable option to them.

Different concepts like interaction design, visual design, and information architecture come together focusing on the look, style, and interactivity of mobile applications.

Unlike User Interface (UI), User Experience (UX) goes beyond the mere look and feel. It isn’t just about producing pretty-looking products — it is about delivering an experience worth remembering.

The User Experience (UX) Design focuses on the functionality and usability of mobile applications. It ensures that the product doesn’t just look great. It checks off the following aspects for a mobile application to become an everyday name.

- The product is needed and usable.

- The product is accessible and credible.

User Experience (UX) is the experience users have before, during, and even after using the application. It’s in minute details, for instance, the symbols on the page should be identifiable and predictable. If they are not then, the users might not want to continue using your app.

Should I even care about UI/UX?

Is this even a question?

Needless to say, it is a highly crucial aspect of mobile applications, especially today.

User-centric apps tend to make it in the long run while apps that deliver poor user experiences go as soon as they come.

So, the answer is simple: if you want your mobile application or business to succeed, you need to prioritize customer satisfaction and pleasure.

Below I have listed down the ways in which great UI and UX play a role in your business acceleration.

1. 100% customer browsing ease & satisfaction

With User Interface (UI) in perspective, you build a mobile application that has the potential to hook users and be interactive. Whereas prioritizing User Experience (UX) lets the users feel satisfied with the experience they had with your mobile application.

They will carry it with them for a long time and your business will automatically fall in their good books.

2. Improved brand awareness & value

UX informs branding. You can engage and delight your users all through the experiences you deliver.

When you design the features of your digital product, you should aim to leave the users awe-struck. You should keep the target audience in mind when designing features for your product because that will build the desired brand perception in the coming times.

3. Sales go right up the roof

If you are an e-commerce store keeping your users hooked and guided throughout the pages on your mobile application.

What are the odds of having abandoned shopping carts?

Absolutely none!

Your UI should grasp the attention and your UX shouldn’t let the user slide away, and that’s exactly how your sales go right up the roof!

4. Increased customer loyalty

Of course, with such improved brand building and sales, you will most likely have users who are loyal and genuine.

They trust your brand, and that’s why they are loyal to it.

Having a smooth and intuitive mobile application helps you build great word of mouth.

And my experience says there’s no marketing better than this.

Final thoughts

To wrap it up — I will just say that yes, a mobile application’s UI and UX design can make or break it.

It’s better to invest smartly because no one wants their app or business to go down in flames. if you prioritize users, you will end up having users who will stick with you for a long, long time.
