The design industry is brimming with innovation and every year calls for something new on a designer’s table. For weaving a meaningful experience for users, you can’t leave any threads loose and to ensure that, it’s important to keep yourself posted on the latest trends.

So, let’s see what UI trends will be keeping you up in 2022!

Minimalism

One hard look at the designs of leading tech companies and you’ll agree that minimalism is here to stay. As of today, it has won over the users’ hearts with elegance and simplistic navigation.

We’re bound to see much more of it because who doesn’t love clear designs?

It isn’t just about the visual appeal; it’s concerned with making the product function in the simplest manner by combining the necessary design elements with it.

UI designers cleverly use white space, plain pictures, integral design elements, typography and consider other aspects to remove distractions for the users. This might sound simple but not all designers can achieve lean minimalistic designs.

Wait-worthy loading screens

Patience is one thing you can’t expect from tech users today. Brands are under an unreal pressure of being fun and likable even when they are making the users wait.

To tackle this, we’ll be seeing more cleverly-designed loading screens paving way for fun waiting time. Working around the less is more principle, today’s UI designers know what they are doing. They are witty, quick to grasp the target audience and leave them impressed with simple solutions.

Fueled by simple designs and contextualized elements, the loading screen trend is promising!

Glassmorphism

We saw hints of glassmorphism in late 2020 and early 2021. Imparting a glassy effect on the software’s UI, glassmorphism will be a huge hit in 2022.

Playing around with transparency, shadow, frostiness, and background blur, glassmorphism explicitly ups the UI of software. The glass-inspired effect is hard to achieve and the final result isn’t always great. But, the subtle background and the right pop of minimalism gravitate brands towards adopting it — and it doesn’t hurt to try.

As big brands like Apple and Microsoft can be seen hopping on this trend, you can expect glassmorphism everywhere in 2022.

NFTs

Amid the hottest of trends, we have NFTs!

NFTs have been creating a buzz across the globe as it’s a possibility of earning money for anyone who’s creating something online. Creating and selling digital art economically empower those who make the content.

From pixelated cartoons to 3D art, the growth with NFTs is limitless. With such a dynamic trend, my experience says that designers will come face to face with something completely unexpected.

We will see a boost in online earning opportunities as selling digital art becomes more of an everyday routine. Subsequently, the art gets democratized as almost everyone can sell their work in the form of NFTs. There’s no room for denial when it comes to this rising trend!

Redefined micro-interactions

2022 is all about letting the design speak itself. Static designs are out and UI is on a quest to build meaningful connections with the users. This trend is most likely set to dominate many of the 2022 UI trends.

Micro-interactions are a force behind stellar user experiences. They’re a subtle difference when a user interacts with the app or website.

It could be a simple heart on Instagram that turns red when you heart a picture or the number of items popping up on the shopping cart when you add an item to it.

Micro-interactions will be the improved and self-explanatory visual cues that’ll keep the users guided and boost user loyalty with the brand.

2022 will refuel designing with details in mind and it’s only for the better!

Wrapping it up…

A catchy user interface is unskippable today and I just scratched the surface. To be truly successful as a UI designer, you should be quick to gobble down all the upcoming trends in the industry. Keep an eye on this space to see what more 2022 has got in its bucket for you!

As you leave, drop down a comment on what you think is the most promising UI trend in 2022.
